Carmel Valley Garden Club Welcomes you to our Club

The CVGC is a nonprofit organization that promotes gardening and education about gardening in our area.  We organizevarious projects in our community throughout the year and make donations to local nonprofits from our Annual Garden Show profits to help beautify the community.

Our regular monthly meetings, which are both educational and social, are held on the 2nd Thursday each month at 6:45 p.m. at the Carmel Valley Community Center on Ford Road.  Our membership and meetings are open to everyone with an interest in gardening.  We issue an e-newsletter with timely tips for your gardening plus information on upcoming events.

Aug. 4 Fiesta in the Park Club Booth a big succcess

The Club booth at the 2018 Kiwanis Carmel Valley Fiesta in the Park was very successful.  We had a stand-out set of volunteers  for both Saturday and Sunday: Bob and Stephanie Byrne, Penny Wood, Theresa Goldberg, June Dawson, Gordon Dill, Elizabeth Blackmon, Julie Tomlin, Diane Woods, Carolyn Rice, Jackie Lynch, Linda Law, Robert Korstanje, Suzanne Taunt, John Balducci, Diana West, Marlene Martin, Patricia Taylor, Jennifer Smith, Janet Brocco, Stacy and  Michelle Cepello, Steve Hoch and Judy Tschirgi.  We recruited 5 new members and sold lots of plants and clothes.  Thanks to everyone for coming out.

July 21st  Pop-up Event at EarthBound Farms was a blast

The Pop-up Walk at Earthbound Farm Farm Stand on Saturday July 21 was a huge success.  The 50+ people who turned up to pick gorgeous lavender, sunflowers and more had a terrific time.  Janna Williams, farmer extraordinaire, demonstrated all the right techniques to avoid bees and get the best flowers, while helping her trim the fields.  We all walked away with gorgeous bouquets, and the Garden Club ended up with over $350 in donations.  A great day for everyone.

Recent Events at the Club

The Annual Picnic at the Carmel Valley Community Park was well attended this year.  With many of new members attending, (we're now well over 200 members), we had quite a crowd.  Club President Gordon Dill thanked all our members for creating such a tremendous Garden Show this year, and revved us up for next year's 50th.  With our substantial net proceeds from the Show we were able to make donations totaling $9,000 to 6 local nonprofits, our fund for Rosie's Garden and a fund for our own special club projects.  Organizations receiving donations were:  Hidden Valley Music Seminars, all Saints Day School, Tolarcitos Elementary School PTO,  MEarth, CVVIC, and Friends of Carmel Valley Library.

The highpoint of the event was the Dessert Competition, with five (4 shown below)intrepid judges facing down a groaning set of tables supporting incredible homemade sweets.  Everyone came home a winner, especially those who tasted the desserts.
