Arrangements - information from Kiwi De Voy, flower judge
The photos below illustrate well constructed mass arrangements. While arrangements are judged on color, texture, and other elements, the critical feature in mass arrangements is "form". The design should clearly represent a form since the arranger has deliberately placed each stem in the arrangement.
This is different from bouquets in that a bouquet is generally (although there are some cases in which bouquets have stems deliberately placed), gathered materials which are then placed into a vase. Also in a design, as in an arrangement, the designer has to "fix" each of the stems to stay in place. This is done with a kenyan or oasis or armature. Plant material placed into a vase is not considered to be "fixed".
This is a Triangle Design.
This is a small circular design.
This is a large circular design.
This design is cylindrical or rectangular.
This design is a dramatic convex one.
